Many companies are creating new companies in artificial intelligence, such as Google, IBM and Habana Labs. Baidu's partnership deal with China Huaneng to develop intelligent energy is another notable acquisition. It seems like everyone is keen to see the future in artificial intelligence. But which companies are making most progress in this area?
Google has 12 new companies that specialize in artificial intelligence
Although artificial intelligence (AI), has seen some recent improvements, it's still not the answer to all business problems. While AI is used across many industries, implementation can be challenging. Companies must have deep domain knowledge to address these problems. This requires them to learn about the value chains and data systems of their potential customers. This will allow them to demonstrate that their AI solutions can work at scale.

DeepMind Technologies. DeepMind Technologies was founded by DeepMind Technologies in 2010, and was purchased by Google in 2014. The company has many research centers located in the United States and Canada. Its AI technology aids in solving problems in science, healthcare, and medicine.
Intel has acquired Habana Labs
Intel Corporation has announced that Habana Labs, an Israeli startup, was acquired by it. Habana develops programmable deep learning accelerators for data centers. It is estimated that the deal could be worth anywhere from $1 billion to $2Billion. This acquisition will expand Intel's AI offerings as well as its product portfolio.
The agreement will allow Intel to develop new chips as well as continue to support Habana’s research and development efforts. The deal also allows Intel to retain Habana's current management team, while the new company will operate on its own. The acquisition will not have any impact on the development teams of the company. It will instead continue to work towards building its own staff. Intel owns several Israeli fabs and centers of development and has recently purchased Mobileye, an auto-tech company for more than $15 billion.
IBM purchased Instana
IBM plans to buy a startup specializing in application performance management as part of its expansion of its AI portfolio. Instana is based in Chicago and its technology allows it collect billions upon billions of metrics daily. The software can be used as a SaaS or on-premises option. It can be used to monitor and control applications running on OpenShift.

Instana uses AI to help organizations manage cloud-native applications. Its software can automatically understand the context of an application and provide insights to help improve its performance. It can also help identify IT problems that could hurt a business and lower customer satisfaction.
FAQ
How does AI impact work?
It will transform the way that we work. We will be able automate repetitive jobs, allowing employees to focus on higher-value tasks.
It will enhance customer service and allow businesses to offer better products or services.
This will enable us to predict future trends, and allow us to seize opportunities.
It will help organizations gain a competitive edge against their competitors.
Companies that fail to adopt AI will fall behind.
Who created AI?
Alan Turing
Turing was conceived in 1912. His father, a clergyman, was his mother, a nurse. At school, he excelled at mathematics but became depressed after being rejected by Cambridge University. He began playing chess, and won many tournaments. He worked as a codebreaker in Britain's Bletchley Park, where he cracked German codes.
1954 was his death.
John McCarthy
McCarthy was born in 1928. Before joining MIT, he studied mathematics at Princeton University. He created the LISP programming system. He had already created the foundations for modern AI by 1957.
He died in 2011.
How does AI work?
An artificial neural network consists of many simple processors named neurons. Each neuron receives inputs form other neurons and uses mathematical operations to interpret them.
The layers of neurons are called layers. Each layer has a unique function. The first layer gets raw data such as images, sounds, etc. These data are passed to the next layer. The next layer then processes them further. Finally, the last layer generates an output.
Each neuron also has a weighting number. This value gets multiplied by new input and then added to the sum weighted of all previous values. If the result exceeds zero, the neuron will activate. It sends a signal down to the next neuron, telling it what to do.
This continues until the network's end, when the final results are achieved.
What industries use AI the most?
The automotive industry is one of the earliest adopters AI. BMW AG uses AI as a diagnostic tool for car problems; Ford Motor Company uses AI when developing self-driving cars; General Motors uses AI with its autonomous vehicle fleet.
Other AI industries include banking, insurance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, and utilities.
What can AI do?
AI serves two primary purposes.
* Prediction – AI systems can make predictions about future events. AI systems can also be used by self-driving vehicles to detect traffic lights and make sure they stop at red ones.
* Decision making - Artificial intelligence systems can take decisions for us. Your phone can recognise faces and suggest friends to call.
